I'm not sure if you've thought (or care for that matter) about permissions to create new web_ping inputs. I have users who are not admins but need to create them.
Whilst the splunk docs say not to add capability stanzas, I added one in authorize.conf along the lines of other apps that have capabilities for modular inputs (edit_modinput_<input_name>) and it seems work. [capability::edit_modinput_web_ping]
Just thought I should sent this to authorize.conf. you incase you think it worth adding to the next update
