ppRegistryNotReady: The translation infrastructure cannot be initialized before the apps registry is ready. Check that you don't make non-lazy gettext calls at import time.

Turns out that server.py needed to be changed. Furthermore, it turned out that the init.d script was loading the wrong Python interpreter.
